Romania VPS. The peering capital.

The EU member that never built a takedown culture, sitting on the densest local peering in Eastern Europe. Cheap, fat, unmetered pipes in a jurisdiction that still asks for a court order. No KYC, crypto-only, root in 55 seconds.

Why this jurisdiction

EU member, un-EU habits

Romania is the EU member that never built a takedown culture. Yes, Law 8/1996 implements EU copyright directives, and enforcement in practice means a Romanian court order — Romanian courts have a long record of declining to act as enforcement proxies for foreign complainants. And GDPR? It applies here. It costs us nothing, because the only personal data we hold is a token hash and a transaction ID.

The real reason to pick Bucharest is the network. Romania's ISP scene grew up on neighborhood LANs and over-built everything: InterLAN and RoNIX settlement fabrics move hundreds of gigabits a day, and "Romanian bandwidth" is a byword in the seedbox world for cheap, fat, unmetered pipes. When your workload moves serious traffic in or out of Europe, this is the rack.

Add a lax takedown culture and standard pricing, and Bucharest ends up our most bandwidth-for-money location in Europe.

Legal highlights

  • Court-order takedown culture — claims need a Romanian court order; no notice-and-action pipeline exists in practice.
  • GDPR-compliant by construction — the only data we hold is a token hash and a txid. Nothing else exists to compel.
  • InterLAN + RoNIX peering — among the densest settlement fabrics in Europe, directly in the data path.
  • The traditional seedbox jurisdiction — unmetered plans thrive here.
  • Best EU price-to-bandwidth ratio — standard tier, entry at $5.99/mo.
Datacenter & network

Bucharest facility, over-peered fabric

Where the seedbox scene puts its servers — and where we put 25 Gbps uplinks to feed it.

Tier III+ facility

Bucharest datacenter: N+1 power and cooling, biometric access, 24/7 on-site hands. Second rack in our network, opened 2022.

AMD EPYC KVM nodes

EPYC 75F3 "Milan" hosts for SV-Nano through SV-Pro; EPYC 9654 "Genoa" for SV-Max and SV-Ultra. DDR4 ECC, NVMe RAID-10, no overselling.

1 Tbps+ DDoS protection

Always-on L3/L4 mitigation in front of every IP, included free. L7 filtering available as a $4.99/mo add-on at checkout.

Network

2×25 Gbps uplinks via Arelion and Lumen; settlement peering at InterLAN and RoNIX exceeding 100 Gbps at peak. This is why Romanian bandwidth has a reputation.

Encrypted nodes, no logs

Full-disk encryption on every host. No activity logs, no connection logs — we can't sell or surrender what we never record.

Clean IPs

Every IPv4 is checked against 40+ DNSBLs before assignment. Flagged addresses are quarantined and recycled, never sold.

Who should pick Romania

  • Seedboxes and bandwidth-heavy apps — 25 Gbps uplinks into InterLAN and RoNIX, and SV-Pro and above are unmetered at 1 Gbps.
  • Communities and forums serving Central and Eastern Europe — the regional default for low latency plus a lax takedown culture.
  • EU buyers who want standard pricing with Amsterdam-adjacent connectivity but fewer legal strings than an EU west-coast rack.

"2 TB/month was never going to be enough. Unmetered on SV-Pro is real — I've pushed 38 TB in a month, zero tickets."

Honest note: Romania is an EU member — courts function and, rarely, do issue orders. What it has never developed is a habit of doing it on foreign autopilot. If your threat model includes an EU state actor, consider Iceland or Switzerland instead.

FAQ

Romania, answered

Not in practice. EU membership has not produced a notice-and-takedown culture in Romania: claims still require a Romanian court order, and Romanian courts have a long record of declining to serve as enforcement proxies for foreign complainants. GDPR applies, but it is a non-issue for us — we hold no personal data to begin with.

Decades of over-built local networks and dense settlement at InterLAN and RoNIX — hundreds of gigabits of peering at peak. Cheap transit plus massive peering is exactly what unmetered plans are for. Our SV-Pro and above are unmetered at 1 Gbps with no fair-use asterisk.

It is the classic choice. Unmetered bandwidth, tolerant peering culture, and an abuse desk that distinguishes civil complaints from court orders — it answers the second and ignores the first. See the use cases page for more workload fits.
